Many people who have a snoring problem do not realize that they can have the beginning stages of sleep apnea. So what is sleep apnea you ask? Well it is a very dangerous problem that if left untreated could lead to death.

What Is Sleep Apnea:

This is the condition where the person who has this problem stops breathing for several seconds at night. This does not occur only once during the night; as a matter of fact it will occur repeatedly throughout the night. The only way that you will most likely know that if you are suffering from this problem is if someone that you love has told you that you are not breathing during the night. I actually lived with someone who suffered from this problem and it is no laughing matter.

The only way to cure this condition is to visit your doctor. They will know what they will have to do. They may even be able to give you a machine that helps you breathe during the night while you are trying to sleep.

There are two types of sleep apnea that people are prone to getting:

1. Obstructive Sleep Apnea: This is the most common type of this condition and it occurs when there is a blockage from the soft tissue in the back of your throat becomes too relaxed and ends up blocking the normal flow of the
air.

2. Central Sleep Apnea: This is totally different from the obstructive type as there is nothing blocking your airway; however the person who has this type of condition; their brain fails to signal the muscles to breathe.

No matter which type of condition you have; it is extremely important that you seek medical attention to help get rid of it. You never want to think that it will get better by itself; because chances are you are going to require a certain type of surgery that will help you breathe better. However your doctor will know how to take care of this problem.

We all know how tiring and groggy you can feel if your body is not getting enough sleep throughout the night. If you continue not giving your body the rest that it requires; then that may lead to other types of health problems.
